March’s MSP Audio Geeks meetup is on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 6:30pm. This is a joint venture with the Audio Society of MN. Thanks to Oliver Masciarotte and Kent Peterson we’ll be hosted by Warkwyn at MISCO (Minneapolis Speaker Co.), the Twin Cities’ premier loudspeaker design and manufacturing facility.

Warkwyn is an acoustical test and measurement company owned by MISCO and is in the business of performing acoustical measurements and prototyping for start-ups and audio companies needing additional resources. Warkwyn is also sales and support agent for Klippel GmbH, a leader in acoustical and electromechanical vibration testing and measurement. Founded in 1949, MISCO is recognized as a global leader in OEM loudspeaker production for the CE, MI and pro audio, along with specialized transducer technologies for military, medical, aerospace and mass transit applications and is one of the few remaining US based loudspeaker manufacturers.

Kent Peterson is Warkwyn’s Sales and Marketing Manager. In his 25+ year career in the audio manufacturing, sales, marketing and acoustical consulting fields, Kent has worked with Electro-Voice, SEH Engineering, HDR Engineering, and Williams Sound. Kent’s acoustical career has included consultation on the Minnesota Twins Stadium, US Bank Stadium, Minnesota Public Radio, Metro Transits’ Light Rail system and the Department of Homeland Security’s Headquarters in Washington D.C. Kent is also a performing musician with a recording studio in downtown Minneapolis and has 3 Minnesota Music Awards to his credit.

A tour of the manufacturing and test facilities will be preceded by an overview of the company’s history and current activities. Light refreshments will be served.

Everyone is welcome to join us. Invite your friends & join us for an evening of audio geekery! All are welcome to attend. Feel free to BYOB. If you are planning to attend please RSVP to mspaudiogeeks at gmail dot com.

April’s MSP Audio Geeks meetup will be on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:30pm. We are grateful to have the opportunity to tour MISCO. Many thanks to Mike Shields and Eddie Ciletti for helping to make this event happen!

Feel free to invite your friends! This month we are handling RSVPs through Eventbrite. Please sign up for April’s meetup HERE. If we reach an attendance cap we will hold a lottery for the available spots and start a wait list.

From their website: “For more than 60 years, MISCO has helped audio system designers make the sound in their imaginations a reality. We engineer and manufacture loudspeakers to meet the specific needs of the widest range of customers and applications.

MISCO is the only US loudspeaker company that does it all – design engineering, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing – in domestic facilities. Our US-based production offers distinct advantages, including quick and accurate communications with customers, lower costs, and shorter lead times.

And while the MISCO product line has grown beyond speakers, we’re always close to our audio roots. Today, MISCO offers complete audio systems, enclosures, amplifiers, accessories and, of course, industry-leading loudspeakers.”
