The February 2020 MSP Audio Geeks meetup will be on Wednesday, March 4th from 7-9pm at the Wedge Table, in their community room. Fellow audio geek and MAAT co-founder Oliver Masciarotte will be showcasing some of the MAAT plug-in roster for us.

A bit about Oliver:
A graduate of the Lowell Institute of MIT, Oliver A. Masciarotte has spent over 30 years immersed in the tech space, working on facilitation, marketing, and product development for clients such as Apple, Harper Collins, The Hit Factory, NASA Johnson, NPR, Pioneer, the San Francisco Symphony, Sony, WHYY and Universal. His writings include a book covering file–based music for the home and well over 100 articles in sundry trade publications. As an invited presenter at numerous trade conferences and member of the AES, SMPTE, PMI and DCS, he enjoys informing folks about technological best practices. These days, OMas is CMO and co–founder of MAAT Incorporated, a developer of pro audio hardware and software solutions.

From the MAAT website:
Once upon a time, a well respected mastering engineer had some sensible but unorthodox notions, and colleagues crazy enough to throw in with him…Thus was born the Pleasurize Music Foundation. Later in his career, that same guy decided to lift up the music community further by establishing the Mastering Academy…Those two enterprises formed the roots of MAAT; a dedication to quality, a desire to do good and a need to provide better sounding, easier to use tools and simpler workflows.

Invite your friends & join us for an evening of audio geekery! All are welcome to attend.

Please note that outside food & beverage is not allowed at the Wedge Table. We encourage you to support the Wedge Table by purchasing something from them.

This event will be a swap meet! If you have gear that you are looking to re-home – even if it needs repair – feel free to offer it up. All gear swap terms are to be determined directly by the individuals involved. If you bring something that doesn’t have a new owner at the end of the night you may choose to donate it to the HTC Audio Production program. Please check with Matt if it is something they could use. Gear donations are eligible for a tax-deductible donation.

About the HTC Audio Production program:
The Audio Production program at Hennepin Technical College has been training audio professionals for over 25 years and offers an AAS degree and Diploma. The facilities offer 7 full production studios and 18 DAW workstations. As part of the MinnState education system, the Audio Production program offers some of the lowest tuition in the State, while maintaining small class/lab sizes, and up to date equipment/gear. Matt Holmes has been a full-time faculty member for 13 years, along with studio manager/lab assistance Mike Byrne. Matt also is an engineer at Wild Sound Recording Studio in northeast Minneapolis.

Thanks also to Roll Music Systems for providing some tasty eats for us! Justin will also be available to answer questions about troubleshooting gear that may be in need of repair. He’ll also be showcasing a PACE desoldering system.
